Therapeutic Effects and Pharmacology:
Research indicates that the combination of avocado and soybean (ASU) prevents cartilage degradation by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase enzymes (protein-degrading enzymes) and stimulates collagen synthesis (the structural protein of joints). It has anti-osteoarthritic effects and can be used as a pain-relieving agent to reduce pain and improve joint dysfunction by inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2 and interleukin-1, and by reducing joint inflammation.
Ginger’s anti-inflammatory activity occurs through the inhibition of macrophage and neutrophil activation, as well as a negative effect on monocyte and leukocyte migration. Studies show that consumption of ginger extract can improve pain in patients with osteoarthritis.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin whose biologically active metabolites control the intestinal absorption of dietary calcium, tubular reabsorption of calcium in the kidneys, and (along with parathyroid hormone) the mobilization of calcium from bones. These metabolites stimulate bone growth by acting on bone cells (osteoblasts). The primary use of vitamin D supplements is for individuals with deficiency of this vitamin and the consequent problems such as hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, osteomalacia or bone loss, bone pain, fractures, and muscle weakness, which in adults is known as osteoporosis.
Side Effects:
In clinical studies, very few side effects have been reported, mainly consisting of mild gastrointestinal discomfort.
Oral consumption of avocado may cause hypersensitivity in individuals allergic to latex. Therefore, those with latex allergy should avoid this product.
Excessive consumption of ginger may increase bleeding risk and lower blood sugar in patients with diabetes.
Drug Interactions:

Avocado may inhibit the anticoagulant effect of warfarin.
Concurrent use of ginger with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel, enoxaparin, heparin, ticlopidine, and warfarin.
Ginger consumption in diabetic patients may lead to reduced blood sugar levels.
Ginger may cause blood pressure changes in individuals taking antihypertensive medications such as nifedipine, amlodipine, and verapamil.
Precautions and Warnings:
Individuals allergic to latex may experience hypersensitivity with oral consumption of avocado. Therefore, those with latex allergy should avoid using this product.
Contraindications:
If you are allergic to any component of this product, do not consume it.
Ginger consumption is not recommended in patients with gallstones.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
There is no information regarding the efficacy and safety of this product during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consequently, these individuals should refrain from using it.
